Hey Snow, I started playing “The Longest Journey” and I saved the game, and when I exited the application crashed, I couldn’t alt-tab or task manager out of it, only option is to reset the pc. I also tried again to play and as I progressed in the story I went to save it, I wanted to overwrite the save and the game crashed again 🙁 it really sucks because now I got to start from my original save, that other progress is gone since I couldn’t save. Any idea what could be causing this?
Based on some of the other forum posts, it looks like the game puts its own saves in its program files directory, for which the game needs to be run as administrator as writing to the program files directory and its subdirectories is restricted to programs running as administrator. Try running the game as admin and see if it resolves the issue.
Also, when the ‘are you sure’ box pops up when you try to save, is blank don’t think the game has crashed, just press ‘enter’ (or Y for yes and N for no) and it will work.
It’s a glitch the game has, many people have it, but there is no fix for it. I hope one of those work for you.
Already tried admin, doesn’t make a difference. I noticed I cant overwrite saves without the game freeze, but I can make new saves fine, BUT every time I click quit it freezes and like a white box appears at bottom (guessing this is where its supposed to show yes or no options) because I don’t see it anywhere, and I am forced to restart pc every time. I will try again right now and see if I can press y on keyboard or something like that, and I will try admin directly from the game directory folder and let you know
UPDATE: Okay so I ran as administrator and clicked quit and the white window popped up, so I decided to press y and it backed me out to the main menu and then I clicked on y again and it let me exit the game 😀 Thank you snow, you are a genius!! I’ll show you how it looked like to me, because I didn’t even know it was going to say yes or no option. Anyway thank you so much!!! You are awesome! 🙂

I managed? haha no you managed, you did it, I didn’t even have a clue. It was only frustrating because I was clueless thinking the game froze because it didn’t let me task manager or back out of the game in anyway. I figured it obviously didn’t crash because I wouldn’t even be able to see the option for task manager, but I didn’t know what could I do to fix it, haha if I knew there was supposed to be a pop-up option for yes or no to quit I would’ve tried the “y” or “n” on keyboard for sure, but thankfully you told me about it 🙂 Once again, thank youuuuuu
You’d be surprised how many times I have given help or instructions step by step how to fix something and still they are having issues doing it. So yeah, I gave you the little help but you fixed it 😉
